Most Followed Athletes On Instagram

There are billions of sports fans around the world and as over one billion of us actively use Instagram every month, there is a huge opportunity for fans to get closer to their favourite athletes.

At PledgeSports, we work with athletes to raise money, but also raise their online profile and make them more attractive to sponsors and endorsements. However, the list of what started out as 10 athletes (now 13) below is on a whole other level to every other athlete when it comes to social media presence. Note we are not including former athletes who have become movie stars, this list is purely for either retired or current professional athletes.

Most of this list are soccer players and the Qatar 2022 World Cup is helping add to their numbers.  Cricketers and basketball also feature, while F1 driver Lewis Hamilton missed the cut with 35.7 million followers.  Top of the baseball list is Alex Rodriguez at 4.2 million while Odell Beckham Jr tops the NFL list by a long lead with 17.7 million, Tom Brady is a distant second with 14.7 million followers.
