Perhaps the most remarkable Indian tennis player and one of the most popular athletes in India, Sania Mirza celebrated 80 consecutive weeks as No. 1 women’s doubles player in the world earlier this year.

2. Maria Sharapova – 6.1 million
Even a failed drugs test and a subsequent 15-month fan can’t damage the support Sharapova has from sports fans around the world.
