The Best F1 Drivers Of All Time

You could ask every motor racing fan out there today to name their all-time best F1 drivers and while many on people’s lists would be the same, some would undoubtedly differ. This is because people lived in different eras and the cars, drivers and the teams have changed over time. Not only that but the tracks and weather conditions are completely different if you were comparing a driver from the 1950s to the modern day. For many though, achievements and what happens on any track is all that matters.
Let’s take a look at some of the greatest F1 drivers to ever grace a circuit…
Ayrton Senna
The fastest driver of ’90s without any doubt, Ayrton Senna da Silva, was a Brazilian formula one driver who made his professional debut in 1984 at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Senna was a three time World Champion and became the youngest three-time world champion in 1991. Senna won the last race of his racing career in the 1993 Australian Grand Prix. He died after after a tragic accident on the track next year in San Marino Grand Prix.
Overall in his short but amazing F1 career, he won a total of 41 Grand Prix and three world titles.
Lewis Hamilton
Next up we have six time world champion Lewis Hamilton. He’s now the most decorated British F1 driver of all time but is still behind others in the amount of world titles he has won. He is however the holder of the most poles achieved and last year equalled Michael Schumacher’s 7’s. With more years ahead of him in F1 8 titles is easily within reach.
Michael Schumacher
With the most world titles to his name, as well as the most grand prix victories, it’s easy to see why many would name Schumacher as not just one of the best drivers of all time but the actual best. If you’re working on statistics and achievements, he’s the most successful F1 driver to ever live and dominated the sport for years. Schumacher raced for for Jordan Grand Prix, Benetton and Ferrari and Mercedes and in hios time set these records: The most World Championship titles (7), the most Grand Prix wins (91), the most fastest laps (77) and the most races won in a single season (13)
His brother Ralf is also an F1 driver with six wins under his belt, pair are the only siblings to win Formula One races. Here are some other famous sports siblings
Juan Manuel Fangio
Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio is said to be the original superstar of Formula 1. He’s still second to Michael Schumacher on the list of the most drivers’ championships won with 5, even though he raced back in the 1950s and his win ration was over 46%. He won 24 of the 53 races that he entered and is deserving of his place in the Formula 1 Hall of Fame.

Jackie Stewart
Former British Formula One racing driver Jackie Stewart Stewart held the record for most wins by a British F1 driver for 19 long years. His illustrious career consists of 27 wins in 100 participations, 17 pole points, and 360 career points. It all started in 1965, when participated in the South African Grand Prix for the first time and achieved the 6th position. In the same year, he won his first World Drivers’ Championships in the Italian Grand Prix. Later, he won three more Grand Prix Championships during his career. In 1973, he won his last international title in German Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel
Sebastien Vettel has been a key player in F1 for the last 7 or 8 years and still to this day continues to be one of the main challengers for the title. The German has amassed an impressive four title haul so far and was Lewis Hamilton’s main rival for glory throughout this season too. He’s so far impressed at Red Bull and Ferrari and certainly looks like he still has more to give. The driver will always be in the running in any race and will be one of the favourites with any sports betting service.
Alain Prost
Prost is another four time world champion who took the Formula 1 scene by storm in the mid-1980s. The Frenchman raced for McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Williams and was involved in what is often described as a career defining battle with the late Ayrton Senna. It was this rivalry and the 4 world championships that see him often labelled as one of the greatest of all time.
