Gymnasts meet their star crowdfunding sponsor – Chaz Davies!
Imola, Thursday 10 May – The Biancoverde Gymnastic team from Imola finally got to thank one of their star crowdfunding sponsors this week when Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Superbike Team rider, Chaz Davies, arrived in town ready for the fifth round of the World Superbike championship. The Welsh rider, who won the 2011 Supersport World Championship and currently lies second in the 2018 World Superbike Championship, was one of the first to donate to Team Biancoverde’s online crowdfunding, set up to support the Imola based team in the Italian National Gymnastics Series.
The young gymnasts, who gave a solid performance against Olympic athletes in Milan just last weekend, took advantage of Chaz’s arrival in Imola to say “grazie” for his support. Chaz Davies met team gymnast, Carolina James – daughter of 3-times Sidecar World Champion, David James – during last year’s World Superbike event in Imola. He continued to follow the team’s progress and was one of the first to contribute towards the online crowdfunding target of €5000 for their 2018 Italian National Championship challenge.
The funding now helps support the young Imola talent of Team Biancoverde’s Cristina Cotroneo, Arianna Gozzi, Carolina James, Luna Luschi, Giada Montanari, Jennifer Nechyporenko, Sofia Terziari, Ilaria Verna and Francesca Zuffa, coached by former national team experienced trainers, Eleonora Gatti and Giacomo Zuffa. 2018 results so far… • 1st and 2nd place Under 13 National Championship (Regional and Interregional phase, qualified for National finals) • 1st 2nd and 3rd place Junior 2 National Championship (Regional phase) • 1st and 2nd place Junior 2 National Championship (Interregional phase, qualified for National finals) • 1st place Junior 3 National Championship (Regional phase) and 2nd place Junior 3 National Championship (Interregional phase, qualified for National finals) • Silver Medal, Senior 2 Regional parallel bars (qualified for National finals) • Gold Medal, Junior 3 Regional Parallel bars (qualified for National finals) • All Elite gymnasts currently in 14th place in the top National “Serie A” Championship of the top 24 Italian teams
