Top 5 Most Popular Participation Sports In The World:

Sports have become a part of man’s life for centuries. Be it as passions, careers or just a way to stay fit and healthy. While there are various distinct sorts of sports, some of them are more popular than others.

For instance, have you ever wondered how come a particular sport is famous in your country, while it is completely unpopular in another?  Did that ever make you wonder which sports are the most popular around the globe?

It is safe to say that it would be impossible to give an accurate answer when it comes to these very questions, yet in this article, I will give a general idea about the world’s most popular sports by participation, according to some recent statistics.

Football (Soccer):

Of course it is football, the game where Messi and Cristiano and many others get creative with just a ball. Football is indeed considered the largest worldly sport. Did you know that the world cup final is watched by roughly 600million person? It is estimated that approximately half of the globe consider themselves football followers. It is also worth mentioning that is the most dominant sport in Germany, UK, Brazil, South Africa, and Mexico, Russian, Algeria and many others. FIFA seems to be doing a good job there, doesn’t it?

Basketball is an enormous sport, smart and fun. It has been keeping its fans entertained for ages now. It is mostly dominant in the US and China, and even Europe. NBA finals usually welcome over 200 countries. It is the dominant sport in the Philippines, yet unconventional in both India and Pakistan.

Tennis is a racket sport that is played individually against one single opponent; or double players against each other. The goal of the game is to move the ball in a way that the adversary is unable to keep it. It is played by a large number of both men and women. It is a major sport in Europe, Asia, African and Australia.

It is a sport played by a bat and a ball between two teams of eleven players. The Indian subcontinent has the largest participation in Cricket. It also well-spread in UK, South Africa and Australia. It’s also a dominant sport in India and Pakistan; on the other hand, it is not very popular in Western Europe.

This sport is also a bat and ball sport, also played by two opponent teams. It was first played in the 18th century in England, then spread all over the world. It is a major sport in Canada, US, Japan and Mexico. Not much of an interest elsewhere.
