Scarlett Mew Jensen selected for her first senior Grand Prix representing Great Britain in Bolzano, Italy.

Scarlett is a 15-year-old springboard diver from East London, she attends St. Marylebone C of E School for Girls in Westminster. She has been diving for 7 years.

Scarlett balances her 20 hours a week of training at the London Aquatics Centre, representing Dive London with studying for her GCSEs and competing for GBR.

Over the last 6 months she has travelled to Kazan, Russia to the Junior World Championships placing 5th on 3 metre and 6th on the 1 metre boards. She has won several golds in her age group and is currently double Junior National Champion in 3 metre and 3 metre Synchro.

She recently travelled to Bourg en Bresse for the 7 Nations Championships claiming gold and bronze medals and following on from two golds at Junior Elites she then went on to Dresden, Germany to claim another bronze for GBR. At the start of the year, she competed in the National Cup, one of her first senior events beating Olympian Grace Reid to second place with a score of 279.20 in the preliminary round of the 3 metre competition and becoming a bronze medalist in the Synchro. With a European silver medal already under her belt in 2015, she will again compete in the European Championships in Bergen, Norway the week before Bolzano.

Scarlett was awarded Canary Wharf Sport Personality of the year in 2014 and won Tower Hamlets Sportswoman of the year. Last year she was awarded a Civic Award for outstanding achievements by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Council.

The 15-year-old said: “I have been diving since the age of 8 and have always loved the challenges I have had to face as an athlete. My progress over the last 7 years has come from my stubborn determination to succeed; being prepared to push myself beyond my comfort zones to learn new dives and keep focused .”

“Sport is not just about competition or effort, you have to be totally committed. I have enjoyed success but have also experienced inevitable disappointment and frustration. The lows push me forward to do better, to become stronger mentally and physically. ”

Having attended a preparation camp earlier this year Scarlett has her sights set on Tokyo 2020. Entering the Grand Prix circuit in Bolzano is a crucial step and at just 15, Scarlett will be the youngest member of the team.

“I know I am very lucky and that my diving has enabled me to travel the world at such a young age which is why I work hard to do my very best. I hope that you will be able to help me to take my next step forward .”

Scarlett is an exceptionally talented British diver working hard to fulfil her potential and to follow her dreams. This exciting opportunity to compete for Great Britain as a Junior,  alongside senior athletes at the 2017 Bolzano Grand Prix this July will be her biggest challenge yet.

Why should you help Scarlett

Her performances so far have been rewarded with medals, results, and National Team selection, but she is too young to be earning any money.

This fundraising campaign for the 2017 FINA Diving Grand Prix in Bolzano is purely to cover the basics; flights, accommodation, and coaching costs. Scarlett needs to raise a minimum of £800 in order to be able to afford this tournament.

Backing this fundraising campaign backs her future as well as the future of British Diving, the pride of St. Marylebone school and her local community as well as the future of British Olympic glory – and you only need to give £5 to make a difference.

Thank you.
