Hi there, I am Shelly Draper and I am a figure skater from Sunny South Africa.

I fell in love with figure skating a few years ago and although people have said that I started too late, I believe that my drive, determination and 10 years of ballet has brought me to a point where, after only 2 years of skating,  I can start to see my goals becoming a reality.

My goals include becoming a national figure skater and then being able to perform on the same stages as people like: Gracie Gold, Ashley Wagner, Karen Chen and Evgenia Medvedeva.

To achieve my goals and compete competitively with girls who have been skating since they were 5 or 6, I will need to spend a lot of time on the ice (Ice time is expensive), with my coaches (also a costly affair), travel to training camps and competitions as well as fees etc., new outfits and equipment, medical and physio costs. For example, the Riedell boots and MK blades that I currently use cost approximately $1000 in South Africa. I will need to get 2 or 3 more pairs this year due to the amount of skating that I am planning on doing.

My dad has worked out that I am going to need $10 000.00 to be able to follow my dreams, we are aiming to raise $5000 through this but anything you do to support will help.
