Hi, my name is Ann Marie Murray, but everyone calls me Smiler. I am many things, an Archer, biker, carer, mum, rocker, wife and part time movie extra.

I took up archery late in life, in my first year I became the Irish Female Barebow Champion and won my first Irish Cap. I broke many Irish records
and competed against the Recuves with my barebow, making it to the All Ireland Series Final with my barebow.

Following an accident last year I have struggled to get my game back to full standard for year two.  I’ve not competed as much and I’ve not won as much gold.

So it’s time for me to take action and start year 3 on a high.  I’ve  switched to Compound bow which is better for my back.  I’ve funded myself to Nimes
for the World Cup in January.  I believe I have a very high chance of doing well in Nimes and earning lots of points to my World Cup tally.  This will also earn me a second Irish Cap.

Now I want to raise the funds to get to the final leg in Vegas is February for more points which will also increase my standing as an International Athlete on the World Archery rankings.

When not training or competing I care for my 94 year old Uncle.  There’s little income so I knit, sew and crochet to fund my way.

I really appreciate any little help received and I’d really like to find a regular sponsor who can help me move on further.  Thank you so much for reading.

Peace and love

Smiler

Awards

As well as my collection of medals, my favourite achievements so far were winning the Irish Barebow Championships after 6 months competing. I also broke 6 Irish records the week before and rebroke one of those the following week. However, nothing in the world beats being capped for your country and receiving your very own Irish kit for your sport. I feel hugely proud to say the least. Following all that I was nominated Sport Star of the year for February last year. Something of a surprise, I'm the only archer to win this in almost 30 years of the award.
