Support

Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read my page, to know there are people out there willing to support me does mean a lot, athletics at times can be a lonely sport and knowing people do believe in you can brighten up the hard days.

My target is to raise £1,000 however in order for me to achieve my overall 2016 goal I will be spending upwards of £8,000 so please email me at LucyElizabethHatton@gmail.com if you feel you can provide additional support.

I am a 20 year old ambitious athlete that competes in the senior category of athletics in the sprint hurdles. I train full time at Loughborough University whilst still be a student at university of Leicester studying BA Criminology.

Doing a degree is something which I am very proud of because growing up I wasn’t diagnosed with dyslexia until late and always thought there was something wrong with me. I would grow up to think I would not achieve much, how wrong I was!

I love to inspire young people and share this story because it just shows that everybody has different talents, the 2015 athletic season was my ‘break through’.

I changed my coach to Jerzy ‘Geroge’ Maciukeiwicz and moved away from home to be a walking distance from the track. we worked hard as a team and deified every bodies expectations when i became European Silver medalist in Prague.

The outdoor season did not go to plan, with a strong start in the America I came away for two outdoor personal bests and ran the qualifying standard for Beijing 2015 World Championships, however I picked up a few injuries that I could not overcome at the time to be fully fit.

This has drove me to focus on my rehabilitation program, to make sure I come back stronger and don’t make the same mistakes. With all the disappointment when I reflect back the experiences I have learnt have been crucial and has allowed me to grow and develop as an athlete, not just physically but mentally.

The 2016 aim is to have a strong winter training period to ensure I have the endurance and base I am going to need, I will not be racing as much this up and coming season but will be more tactical to make sure training and competition is perfect.

I am aiming to get a place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in order to ensure this becomes a reality, making the world indoor finals will be the first box I need to tick.

This project funding will go towards my coaching and medical fees, if the target is exceeded the money will also be put towards training camps and travel costs.

My European Experience

First,, watch the clip!! Every time I watch that race I get goose bumps on my goose bumps. It was the best experience for me, my first ever GB vest and to come away with a medal, well it makes all the had work, injuries, let downs worth it! My path has not been the smoothest but I am the athlete and person I am today because of my athletics. So at Europeans, I was taken by GB in the discretionary place. Every time I stood on that line I decided that if I didn't treat every round like it was the final then I would never of forgive myself. Not many people know but I was crying before that final because the emotional strain my body went through in one day was enough to last a life time, I do my athletics not just for myself but for all the people around me that take the time to help me achieve my dreams. Athletics is a solo sport but I do have some smashing people around me that take the loneliness away. Crossing that line and looking up at the board to see my name was breath taking, I knew my family were there watching and if you look at the second photo with my hands in the air, i'm looking towards them and sharing the moment.
