My name is Eden Giselle Silva. I am an 18 year old professional tennis player from Great Britain. I live in Essex where I am ranked No1 in the county. My National ranking is 18 and I have a world WTA ranking of 698 in singles and 500 in doubles.

I Started playing mini tennis at the age of three as a weekend social activity at my local club, Cranbrook Castle in Ilford. It soon became obvious that my game was improving fast and my potential was noticed by my first coach Chris Drewe. My family have been my main support over the years and have given me everything I have needed to begin my journey. I was very fortunate to have worked with the legendary California based tennis coach Robert Lansdorp from the age of 10 to 15, Robert was responsible for the development of players such as Tracey Austin, Lindsay Davenport, Maria Sharapova and Pete Sampras to name a few. He helped to develop my game and gave me an understanding of what was needed to become a great player.

At the age of 12 I reached the final of British Nationals and was considered one of the top tennis players in the country for my age, I was one of two girls my age invited to join Team Aegon which offered full support for my tennis. When I was 13 I experienced severe Osgood Schlatters Disease which is an inflammation of the knee and is quite common in young growing athletes. As a result of this I was prevented from full-time training and competition which lasted for almost 2 years, during this time I sadly lost most of the support I was receiving. Along with the highs there have been many obstacles that I have had to overcome, this has only improved my life experiences.

With the help and support of PledgeSports campaign I will be in a strong position to train, travel and compete internationally. My short term objective is to reach 500 WTA by the end of 2014 and continue developing as a person and a player.

I love playing tennis and competing and believe my journey so far has made me a strong person who is ready for the challenges that lie ahead of me.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tecnifibre who I have been with since I was 9 years old, Ximad, Redbridge Sports centre, Essex county and everyone for their support in this PledgeSports campaign.
