Hi, thank you for taking you time to visit my pledge page.

I am part of a 4 man team training to run the Trailwalker challenge this summer in aid of the Gurkha welfare Trust. This is a 100 kilometer endurance run with over 2500 meters of climbing, that’s the equivalent of climbing both Ben Nevis and Mt Snowdon! This will be the furthest any of us have ever ran and our goal is to complete this event in under 20 hours and all money raised will be going straight to charity.

Who are we: I am running as part of Team Trojan, a casual running club based in Newcastle. All of us competing are currently at university, and running is definitely done as a hobby, keeping up our fitness in between lectures and hand in dates. We chose to take part in the Trailwalker challenge as it seemed to be the ultimate team running challenge and we thought, “Hey half marathons are getting a bit easy let’s do something 4 times that length!”, this will be by far the hardest this any of us have done, both physically and mentally and will be a good chance to see how far we can really push ourselves. It also came to our attention as the money raised goes towards the Gurkha welfare trust, a charity close to us as we all have a close relationship with the military and admire everything the Gurkha have done for this country.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust: As I’ve said this is a charity close to all of us taking part in team Trojan, both runners and support crew. Their mission is to ensure that Gurkha veterans, their widows and their wider communities are able to live with dignity. This is achieve this primarily through the provision of financial, medical and community aid in Nepal, operating through 22 area welfare centers spread across traditional Gurkha recruiting areas. In the UK, in conjunction with other service charities and government bodies they also offer advice and support to help the thousands of retired Gurkhas and their families who choose to settle here.

Thank you so much for any donation or support you can give. It doesn’t matter how small the amount everything you give will be used to help a community that has done so much for us, and the more we raise the more determines we will be to give a good showing and complete this upcoming challenge, leading to us doing even more outrageous things in the name of charity in the future!
