Hi everyone! UCD Boat Club here. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Over the past 98 years we have been among the leading rowing clubs in the country, competing both nationally and internationally. We have competed at the sports’ most prestigious events, such as Colours, Irish National Championships, London Head of the River, London Metropolitian Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta.
Our athletes have also represented Ireland at the World University Championships, World Under 23 Championships and the World Championships.
However, we must continue to grow and develop so that we can reach our full potential, both as individual athletes and as a club. The purchase of new boats and top-class racing equipment is very important for our current elite athletes, but the club must also continue developing and recruiting new talent to ensure its foundations remain strong.
The Bank Tank
Our rowing tank is a vital tool in the development of our emerging talent. Our first project is to refurbish our bank tank at our boathouse in Islandbridge.
For anyone not overly familiar with rowing, let us explain: the bank tank is a steel tank on the bank of the river that simulates a seat in a rowing boat. It is a tool for learning and developing technique and is used by all from the most basic beginner to the most elite oarsmen.
The two tanks at our boathouse in Islandbridge have withstood the Irish weather for somewhat of an eternity and it is time for a new group of oarsmen and women to learn to row and perfect their technique in a much-needed refurbished bank tank.
The tank needs shoes, seats and slides, rigs, oars and some general refurbishment and reinforcement of the walls. This project, despite being seemingly simple, is a costly one and your support, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.

Every Donation is Appreciated
Rowing is an expensive sport – the basic equipment required for one boat of 8 rowers starts at approximately €30,000. Every donation helps to ensure that we can provide the best possible support to allow all levels of rower develop to their potential. Thank you!
