Who Are The 5 Most Underrated NBA Players in 2022-23?

The NBA is teeming with talent, but sometimes, this talent goes unappreciated. Players give everything to the game to get their team that cup. But, at the end of the day, not everybody scores – not every player gets the cheers. So what happens to the players who don’t make the MVP list despite doing their part? You can click here to learn more about the best basketball betting sites, the ins and outs of player stats and odds in basketball. Meanwhile, here is a look at the five most underrated NBA players this season.

Kyle Kuzma, Washington Wizards

Kyle Kuzma has had an interesting career, to say the least. During his time with the Lakers, he showed promise despite entering as a late first-round pick. His potential might have taken a slight hit due to him playing the same position as NBA All-Star LeBron James, but he did get to spread his wings with the Washington Wizards. Kuzma is currently averaging 3.2 assists, 8.1 rebounds, and 19.8 points – marks that are so far his career best. Additionally, he is a strong rebounder and can score from all levels. This and the fact that he is pretty young should gain him more credit than he gets.

Jarrett Allen, Cleveland Cavaliers

Cavaliers big man Jarrett Allen has mastered the art of his role. In addition to being an impressive rim protector and shot-blocker, Allen’s athleticism makes him a strong rebounder and lob threat. He is arguably one of the best rim-running centers in the NBA at the moment, with great impact, strength, and length. While he does not score as many baskets as his more notable teammates – which might explain his underrated status – he can lock down the paint and finish above the rim impeccably.

Andrew Wiggins, Golden State Warriors

Before joining the Golden State Warriors, Wiggins did not have a very good track record. He, time after time, failed to live up to the expectations of his team until he shook things up by changing teams. Now with the Warriors, Wiggins is a world-class defender and elite shooter. He does not get half the credit he deserves, but he is a key reason the team had such a good run last year. In fact, Wiggins performed outstandingly in the playoffs, providing great rebounds and defense during key stretches.

Jrue Holiday, Milwaukee Bucks

If there was a trophy for the most underrated NBA point guard, Jrue Holiday would probably win it. Holiday did a career turnabout after leaving the Philadelphia 76ers, where he was the primary scoring option. He is now a great defender and playmaker, with the consensus among his teammates being that he is one of the league’s best perimeter defenders. That aside, however, Holiday has never made the Defensive Player of the Year shortlist. This is even though he is one of the main reasons the Milwaukee Bucks bagged the Finals two years ago.

Luke Kennard, Los Angeles Clippers

Three-point shooting is a fundamental component of offenses in the NBA, which is what makes Luke Kennard so underrated. While he does not get half the adulation he deserves, the LA Clippers player continually ranks among the league’s top players in three-point percentage. He currently has a 47.9% shooting rate and converted 44.9% of his attempts last season.

Conclusion

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world, so it only makes sense that its biggest league, the NBA, regularly sparks conversation. In this case, concerns can be raised about the players who dive for loose balls, set the picks, and do all the grunt work to get the ball through the hoop but don’t make the headlines. These five are just part of the list, and it is good to see that some of them are beginning to get the attention they deserve. In the future, they may even see more of the spotlight.
