Welcome

Welcome to the Isle of Wight Ladies Football Team crowd-funding page. In June 2017 we are competing in the Natwest Island Games in Gotland, Sweden. The ladies squad is formed of 21 members ranging in age from 16-36 years. Since 2001 the squad have competed at 6 Island Games and aim to improve on their success by bringing home a medal in 2017.

It will cost £21,000 to send the squad to the Games. We are appealing to the public and businesses of the Isle of Wight and beyond to help fund our team getting to the Games. To help reduce the cost several fundraising events have already taken place, including quiz nights, raffles, and bag packing. Future events already organised include race nights and cycling the distance from the Isle of Wight to Gotland on static bikes.

Through your support you will be helping the current crop of female footballers on the Isle of Wight take their first steps on the international stage.

Thank you for becoming part of Our Team!

Meet the Team

Richard Mumford – Manager

Rich has managed the team in 3 previous Island Games and hopes to bring a medal home, this year. He loves drinking tea and having a meeting. If the two are combined he’s onto a winner.

Katy Ednay – Coach

Gotland is Katy’s 5th Games alongside the ladies squad. Her responsibilities include making sure the team is well hydrated and recovering in the unwelcomed ice baths. Katy is also in charge of squad fines!

Dean Rayner – Kit Man

This will be Deans 2nd Games but 1st with the Ladies squad. He plays an integral part and makes sure everyone is wearing the correct kit on match days. Nothing is too much trouble and can often be found at the laundrette making sure all items are washed and cleaned ready for the next day.

Shannon Kilcullen (Captain) – Centre Back

As captain Shannon leads the team both on and off the pitch. Although this is only her 2nd Games Shannon brings a wealth of experience to the backline and is looking forward to leading the team in Gotland.

Kirren Shaw – Goalkeeper

As the youngest member of the squad, Kirren is about to undertake her GCSE’s. With her sights set on studying sports at College and progressing to University, Kirren is no doubt motivated and dedicated. This is Kirren’s debut at the Island Games.

Georgia Dye – Goalkeeper / Midfield

All round sports women and has represented the Island at 3 previous games both in football and Badminton.

Jess Taylor – Goalkeeper/Centre Forward

Passionate about representing the Isle of Wight, Jess is excited to finally be able to compete at the Games. This is her 1st games and is looking forward to meeting her fellow competitors.

Sophie Wade-Smith – Right Back

This is Sophie’s first year competing at the Island Games. As a Primary School Sports Coach she hopes to inspire her pupils and is excited to represent the Isle of Wight.

Amelia Ward – Centre Back

“Big A” is the tallest member of the squad and is currently in her 1st year at University. This will be her 2nd Games.

Naomi Cooper – Left Back

“Nay” made her debut in 2011 at the Isle of Wight Games and has represented the Island ever since. Having previously captained the Club Side, Naomi is a very popular member of the team and is also hoping for a medal this year.

Marika Bebere – Midfield/Centre Forward

Marika, originally from Latvia/Riga is competing in her 2nd Island Games. When not playing for the squad she also enjoys playing Elite soccer, Futsal and beach football. On the pitch, Marika has the pace to rival Usain Bolt!

Ellena Crutcher – Midfield

Elz is a talented player and isn’t scared of a tackle. She made her debut in 2015 and was the youngest member of the squad.

Katy Rawlinson – Midfield/Striker

Probably the shortest member of the squad at 4ft 9in but don’t let that fool you. A midfield maestro with quick feet and an eye for goal.

Lucy Blake – Midfield

Affectionately known as Chewi, Lucy is currently finishing her 1st year at University. She made her debut in Jersey and has a powerful left foot.

Sammie Mumford – Midfield

Sammie may be the oldest in the squad at 36, but with that comes experience, this will be Sammie’s 7th Games, and is hoping that this will be the games she brings home a medal.

Susan Cullen – Striker

Susan has experienced many Island Games and looks forward to her 4th with the ladies squad. Susan, along with her teammates, hopes to bring home a medal in 2017.

Danielle Merryfield (Vice-Captain) – Midfield

This will be Danielle’s 5th Games and she has high hopes for bringing home a medal. As Vice-Captain, Danielle is looking forward to encouraging the squads’ debutants and sharing this unique experience.

Gemma Woodford – Striker/Centre Back

Voted Players Player last season, Gemma hopes to continue her success in Gotland. As this is Gemma’s 5th Island Games she is aiming to bring home a medal in 2017.

Lucy Scholes – Midfield

This is Lucy’s debut at the Island Games. At just 20 years old Lucy spends a lot of her time in Portsmouth, as an apprentice for BAE Systems. However, she is dedicated to the team and has worked hard this season to make the squad.

Hannah Sartini – Striker

Hannah is looking forward to her 1st Island Games at just 18 years old and is hoping, her numerous appearances over the last three seasons will make her an asset to the squad. She is currently studying Btec Level 3 at UKSA.

Dani Morris – Striker

Dani, often giving the team plenty to laugh about, makes her Island Games debut this year. At only 18 she is still studying her A Levels but always shows her dedication to the squad at both training and games.

Tash Miller – Centre Back

Having represented the Island at 3 previous games Tash brings experience to the backline. After a lengthy time out following injury, Tash is back to full fitness and is looking forward re-joining the squad for this year’s campaign.
