Hi, firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my campaign.
My name is Josh Griffiths, I am 20 years old and I am an international athlete from Wales. I have represented Wales on 24 occasions on road, track, cross-country and mountain running. I have also represented Great Britain at mountain running where I placed 50th at the World championships.
I have been running since the age of 15, before then I played football for my local team and at a county level. I have always trained as hard as possible, but its not since I moved to university at Cardiff Metropolitan and started working under a new coach where I was really able to make strides forward in my performances. I am now part of a successful running group, with lots of experienced athletes to train with. As a result of being able to train harder and more often, last year I was ranked 2nd for the 5km and 10km at under-20 in the UK. In 2013 I won the Welsh under-20 championships over 1 mile, 5km, 10km and trail running as well as taking a medal at the 3000mi, 3000m, 10000m and cross-country senior championships. This year I am the senior Welsh 10-mile and Welsh universities cross country champion, with lots of championships still to come.
This coming year I would like to get as close as possible to breaking 30 minutes for 10km, defend all the titles which I won in 2013, and have a good crack at making the European under-23 cross country championships. As a result of my ambitious but achievable goals, I would be looking to raise some money to fund travelling expenses and entry fees, as I will be racing across the UK and possibly on the continent a suitable race presents itself.
I train 7 days a week, usually training twice per day depending on competitions. My training will mostly involve running but I also do some gym work as part of my weekly routine.
