We have recently cover the biggest TV rights deals as well as the hight paid people in sport and the top 10 is nearly all American. Now lets focus on the the most valuable teams/franchises in America. With the NFL and the NBA having the biggest TV rights deals. these sports are sure to make up the bulk of the list. In fact 29 NFL teams make up the list of 50 most valuable franchises globally! Only the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills were left off.
Notably in the globally most valuable teams, 3 soccer teams made the cut for top 10. The 2nd most valuable team globally was Manchester United followed by Real Madrid at No 3 and Barcelona at No 4.
Every year Forbes releases rich lists and we have used their figures for the below list.
1. Dallas Cowboys, $4.8 billion, (NFL)
Although the team has not won an NFL championship in 20 years, it is the most valuable team in sports, largely due to its $1.2 billion home stadium constructed in 2009. In 2013, the Dallas Cowboys sold the naming rights of the stadium to AT&T for an estimated $400 million to $600 million.
2. New York Yankees, $4 billion, (MLB)
The New York Yankees is the only Major League Baseball team featured in the top 10 richest sports teams; its estimated value is $4 billion. The team’s last championship was in 2009, but it has 27 World Series titles, more than any other MLB team.
3. New England Patriots, $3.7 billion, (NFL)
The second most valuable team in the NFL, the Patriot’s loyal fan base allow for unique revenue opportunities for the franchise. In 2015, the Patriots unveiled the Optum Field Lounge at the south end zone of their Gillette Stadium.

This member-only club carried an annual fee of $1,500, mandates that a minimum of two memberships be purchased at a time and does not include the cost of season tickets. Their recent Superbowl victory also helped their addition to the 10 m ost valuable teams globally.
4. New York Knicks, $3.6 billion, (NBA)
The NBA’s most valuable team in 2018 is the New York Knicks. The Knicks took the title of most valuable NBA franchise from the LA Lakers largely due to a new 20-year media rights deal worth $100 million in its first year.
5. Los Angeles Lakers, $3.3 billion, (NBA)
The second-most-valuable team in the NBA is the Lakers. And with a 20-year $4 billion local television deal with Time Warner signed in 2012 the 16-time Championship winners won’t be leaving the top 10 list any time soon!
6. New York Giants, $3.3 billion, (NFL)
One of three New York teams on the list, The New York Giants are the fourth-most-valuable NFL team.
7. Golden State Warriors, $3.1 billion, (NBA)
This San Francisco Bay Area team saw a 19% jump in their valuation since last year. Online betting should help all of these teams increase revenue further.
8. Washington Redskins, $3.1 billion, (NFL)
With 85 seasons under their belt the Redskins are the 4th most valuable NFL franchise and have seen a 5% increase in their valuation since 2017.

9. San Francisco 49ers, $3.05 billion, (NFL)
Another San Francisco Bay Area team in the top 10.
10. Los Angeles Dodgers, $3 billion, (MLB) Los Angeles Rams, $3 billion, (NFL)
Tied at number 10 are an LA based MLB and NBA team! The 2015 relocation from St Louis to LA has lead to a big jump in the value of the team. The estimated the worth of the team in 2015 was $1.45 billion. The team owner Stan Kroenke is one of the richest team owners in sport.
